August 4-7, 2016 the Missouri Basketweavers Guild hosted their 25th convention, Weave the World,\u00a0in St Louis, Missouri. Co-chairs Leanne Nielsen and\u00a0Edeltraud Romvai had all kinds of fun planned for the weekend, from the\u00a0teacher and vendor reception featuring an international smorgasbord to passports and basket bingo.<\/span><\/p>\n


\n\"MBG<\/a>Leanne, Edie and their team of chairs and volunteers did a wonderful job. We all benefited from their hard work and attention to detail. Everywhere I\u00a0looked people were enjoying themselves: laughing, snacking, weaving beautiful baskets, shopping, making new friends and visiting with old friends. The event was delightful! Thank you to everyone who made it possible!<\/p>\n

I vended and taught 3 basket classes.<\/p>\n

\"MBG\u00a0<\/a>\"MBG<\/a><\/p>\n

Qoph<\/a> – the base looks kind of spidery at this stage<\/p>\n

\u00a0\"MBG\u00a0\"MBG<\/a>\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

even so, they all turned out beautiful.<\/p>\n

\"MBG<\/a><\/p>\n

Pat, the gal who writes poetry, raps and songs about the basket classes she takes, worked hard – and wrote a little poem about her basket \ud83d\ude42 :<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0I have become accustomed to your quiet beauty<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0But others have not,<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 And they, seeing you, stop – transfixed.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Silently remembering other times of peace.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 A walk by the lake, perhaps, a sunrise, a fall afternoon weaving on the porch.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 And though it is silent,<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The message is heard,<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Qoph is more than just a winning word.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"MBG<\/a>\u00a0\"MBG<\/a><\/p>\n

And we wove Arisaema <\/a>– 64 spokes and a full morning of twining!
\n<\/a><\/p>\n

\"MBG<\/a><\/p>\n

Afternoon came, the sides went up and the natural embellishments came out<\/p>\n

\"MBG<\/a> \"MBG<\/a><\/p>\n

And then we wove with paper<\/a>,\u00a0
\n<\/a>\"MBG<\/a><\/p>\n

Papyrus.<\/a><\/p>\n
